Crispy Kale Salad

Happy Black Friday, party people! Were you up with the birds waiting to bust open the doors of your local Best Buy? Not me, I slept in, and ate apple pie for breakfast. As I mentioned on Wednesday, we were hosting an intimate Thanksgiving feast. One of our friends flew in from California, and we are having a great time. We made crispy kale salad (recipe below), green bean casserole, stuffing, turkey, and smoked chile scalloped sweet potatoes. My husband ran to a bakery around the corner, and picked up an apple pie for dessert. Cooking all afternoon was so much fun, and I can't wait to do it again next year. The highlight of the meal was definitely the salad, so I wanted to share it with you all - it is my favorite salad recipe of all time. I found it on Pinterest (go figure), and modified it a bit for our meal.

If it has pomegranate, I'm in.
tossing all the ingredients together
2 large bunches of kale, torn from stems and torn into pieces
2 teaspoons olive oil
2 teaspoons fresh apple cider
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 small sweet potato, diced
1 honeycrisp apple, diced
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
goat cheese, crumbled
1/2 cup pomegranate arils

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place kale in a large bowl and massage olive oil, apple cider, 1/8 teaspoon salt, nutmeg and pepper into for 1-2 minutes. Spread on a baking sheet in a single layer and roast for 10 minutes. Toss well and roast for 5-10 minutes more, until slightly crispy but not golden.
While kale is roasting, heat a skillet over medium heat and add garlic, sweet potatoes and apples to the skillet, tossing with remaining salt and cinnamon. You want the sweet potato and apple finely diced, about the same size as the pom arils. Cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft.
Combine kale with apples and sweet potatoes, goat cheese and pom arils. No dressing is needed - it is perfect as is at this point. Add more goat cheese if you'd like (I for sure added a LOT more), and enjoy! This is a real crowd pleaser!
I kept my table minimal - it is a fairly small table, so I didn't want to overpower with decor. A few candlesticks from West Elm, and my favorite Diptyque candle were just enough.
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Enjoy your weekend!

Burberry In The Park

Happy Hump Day! I'm sure you are all very busy either traveling or prepping for Thanksgiving - I know I am! We are staying in the city and hosting an intimate feast, so I'll have my hands FULL tomorrow. If the weather is decent, we're going to try to make it over to the Macy's parade, but we'll probably end up watching it on TV (especially since I have a TON of cooking to do).

On to today's look - I wore this outfit for a day in Central Park. The weather was perfect, and we spent all afternoon walking around the park (if you've never been, you have to go - you can't imagine how amazing it is until you've been there). Burberry makes the greatest coats, and this is one of my favorites - I'm in love with the color- in person it is much more of a green than it looks here (sorry!).
Nuts 4 Nuts are the greatest.thing.ever! Especially on a chilly day, the almonds are my favorite.

Cozy Thanksgiving

Hi ladies! Hope your week is off to a good start. I've been stuck in bed the past two days with a fever and the chills - hopefully I can kick this cold before holiday festivities begin! Today I put together a collage of my typical Thanksgiving outfit. I'm usually in a loose fitting sweater (because who wants to be in a tight top after all that food!) a skirt and tights - cozy yet put together!

Black + Gray

Good Monday Morning, ladies! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend - it was freeeeezing here in NYC, but we still managed to head out and explore the city. One of my cold weather essentials is a hat - if I forget my hat, I'm miserable. I picked this one up at H&M for under $20, and love the pom on top.
I love a combo of black and gray for winter, it's perfect (in my opinion).
I was so excited to get this Celine bag a couple weeks ago - you may have seen it on IG. I've been lusting after the trapeze for a while, so I welcomed it with open arms to my closet.
Make it a productive Monday!

TGIF! Any fun plans for the weekend? The temperatures are supposed to drop in Chicago so I may go into hibernation. Anyways, today I found some of my favorite neutral pieces. Next to black - neutrals are my favorite colors to wear, so classic and chic. I'm especially loving these Kristin Cavallari booties! Have a great weekend loves!

La Esquina + Soho House

Last night I had a little #girlsnightout in NYC, and we had so much fun.
First, we went to La Esquina - a great Mexican restaurant in SoHo with a speakeasy feel. From the street it looks like a small diner, but when you head down the 'secret' stairway, and through the kitchen, you're in an amazing restaurant.

I had the fish tacos, street corn, and (of course) a spicy marg - would recommend all of them!

After dinner, we headed to the infamous Soho House - you may remember it from Sex & The City when Samantha pretends to be a member to use the rooftop pool. They take themselves very seriously - the bathrooms are equipped with signage reading, "Anyone found in pairs in the toilet will be asked to leave the club immediately and their membership will be suspended." True story. It had such a great vibe, and feels very much like a polo club - lots of wood, velvet, and worn leather furnishings.
If you're in NYC, you certainly need to check them out - you won't be disappointed! In other news - it's almost FRIIIIDAY! Have a lovely day! xo

Winter Coats

Love the leather sleeves and giant cargo pocket details
Winter is definitely here in full force and isn't going away anytime soon (sigh). So today I rounded up some of my favorite winter coats to keep you looking fashionable (and warm!) all winter long. I found my coat at Zara and I also came across some super cute ones at Nordstrom and ASOS - take a look below!

Leather + Plaid

Good morning, ladies! Hope you had a great weekend - mine was packed! We had our first official 'double date' with friends in the city, and had so much fun. We went to a great little Italian restaurant called Felice - definitely recommend it if you are in NYC or planning to visit. But beware, they do not accept reservations, so grab yourself a glass of Prosecco at the bar, and prepare to wait a bit, it's worth it!
On to today's look - you're probably sick of hearing about this jacket, but you're going to have to deal with it another day, because I can't get enough of it. I wore this outfit for a day full of shopping, and received so many compliments on it. The manager at the Celine store ran over to me and said he had to know where it was from as I was leaving, I'm sure after I told him it was from Forever 21 he didn't like it anymore - HA! A few other people asked me if it was Helmut Lang, and I got such joy telling them it was only $54, everyone was shocked. This weekend, I wore it with my leather pants, a casual tee, and plaid shirt - it's all about layering, and I love this combo.

Have a great day lovlies!

Today, we're sharing our favorite winter finds under $100 for the ladies on a budget (who are we kidding, aren't we all?!).
