5 Things You May Not Know About Me

Happy Friday, ladies! As I mentioned on Wednesday, I am home for the holidays (at my parent's home), and I am so thankful! I live far from my family, so being able to spend and extended period of time with them is so nice.  We've gotten a few requests to share a little bit more about ourselves, so I thought I would share 5 things you may not know about me. Here goes nothing!

1. I am a mom.
Some of you may already know this about me, but many of you probably don't. Being a mom is the most challenging, and rewarding part of my life. There are things I struggle with on a daily basis as a mother, and it's difficult not to compare yourselves with other moms - especially those superwoman moms on Pinterest...
 36 weeks pregnant.

2. I have a strong desire to eat healthy and be in shape, but I have major issues with both.
I am not the type of person who loves to eat healthy and go to the gym. I don't hate either one, but if you give me the choice of a cupcake or a side salad, I'm most certainly going with the cupcake. Out to drinks with friends or go to the gym? Count me in for drinks (I'll go to the gym tomorrow, right?). I will go through phases where I'm all about eating clean and exercising, but if I go on vacation or have a conflict with my regular schedule, forget about it. My goal for 2014 is to maintain a consistently healthy lifestyle, anyone have any tips for me? I. need. all. the. help. I. can. get.
This watch helps me stay motivated...sometimes.

3. My husband and I met in Miami.
I was on a 2-day vacation with one of my best friends, and he was working there. We booked our hotel through Hotwire.com, and it happened to be where my husband was living at the time (for work - he was based in Chicago, but traveled to Miami during the week). I was living in Chicago as well, we had mutual friends, and our dogs had the same name, but somehow we had never met...FATE! We went on our first date in Chicago a week after we met, and we've been together ever since.
We go to Miami once a year for a little celebratory vaca.

4. I am the youngest of three kids - I have two older brothers.
When I was growing up, my brothers were SO protective - always intimidating my boyfriends and telling my parents if I did anything wrong (like the time I snuck out in the middle of the night, or when I told my 6th grade boyfriend I loved him - HA!) I love spending time with my brothers now, but growing up was a different story. Love you, big brothers!

5. I love reality TV.
While I love a great scripted show (Scandal is my favorite!), I can't get enough of reality TV. It pains me to say I get upset if I forget to record an episode of Housewives or Kardashians, anyone else have the same guilty pleasure? What is it with these shows? I have to admit, the previews are always better than the actual episode, but it doesn't stop me from watching!

Have a great weekend!! XO

  1. I love getting to know more about other bloggers! Thank you for sharing! And the story of how you and your husband met is SO cute! I'm sure you are an amazing mother!!!! Also, I just bought that watch to count calories burned while I work out. I'm not really sure how it works, but I hope it helps motivate me more... I am totally all about drinks with friends vs. the gym ;)

    1. Thanks love, aww that is so sweet! The watch does help me to stay motivated WHILE I'm working out - it's getting TO the gym that I struggle with ;). xo

  2. So great to learn more about you! You and your husband are so cute together. thanks for sharing!

  3. SO cute about you and your husband meeting! When I met my boyfriend we discovered our families both have 3 kids (two boys one girl), we're both the oldest, and my family has a Jack Russell Terrier named Sammy and his family has a Jack Russell Terrier named Sunny, and a ton more weird similarities. Just like you guys- fate!

I also really can't help the reality tv show addiction! I don't know what it is. I know it's stupid and I'm wasting my brain cells but I watch anyways and love every second.

    1. SO funny how things work isn't it!? Definitely sounds like fate to me! HA - total waste of brain cells, but oh well ;), gotta live a little sometimes (aka every night).

  4. that picture of the boys made me tear up...love you and them :) XX

  5. #3 is the best! Nice to learn a little about you. Enjoy the upcoming holiday!

  6. I love these posts!! I too have the same goal for 2014 and the story of how you and your husband met is too sweet and it's true Fate!!
    Thanks for sharing!

  7. Love this post and still can't believe you were 36 weeks pregnant in that pic! I would allow anyone to take pictures of me when I was 36 weeks! Your gorgeous!

    1. Aww thank you so much, love! You are too sweet, and I'm sure you looked beautiful at 36 weeks! XO

  8. Gosh, Brooke!! I can TOTALLY relate to numbers one and TWO!! I look at other moms all of the time and wonder.... how do they do it!? My house doesn't look like that, my body CERTAINLY does not look like that, I certainly don't have THAT kind of patience.... blah blah blah. The list goes on. All that matters is that our little girls think that we are "killin it", right? If I saw myself the way that my daughter sees me, there would be a lot less insecurities on my end. You are a beauty though, and there is no doubt you are a lovely mother!! XO! - Jenni
