Black & Blue

Happy Monday dolls, hope you all had a fab weekend! Mine was pretty low key, lots of work and relaxing! I wore this outfit for a day out in the city - I've been itching to wear a dress, even though the temperature isn't quite there, so I paired it with some over-the-knee's to cover up some skin! A lot of you have asked about this jacket on Instagram, it's from Zara and it's my absolute favorite. The color is perfect for spring and the details on it are gorgeous - it's simple yet chic!

Winter Blues

Hi babes! I'm sure I speak for most of you when I say I am so sick of this weather! Chicago has been cold, rainy, windy and its still been snowing - ugh! I wore this outfit for a casual lunch date with a friend. I didn't feel like wearing my winter coat so I put on lots of layers under this Zara vest - I was still pretty chilly from the high winds! These shoes always get so many compliments every time I wear them - they're a steal from Target last winter! Hope you all have a great day, its almost the weekend! And lets pray warmer weather is coming so we can pack up our coats and sweaters! xo

Happy Hump Day ladies! Today, I'm sharing all about my trip to Napa - this was such a great trip, and I wish we could hop on a plane today and go back. It was our first trip sans babe, and it was bittersweet. We were so sad to say goodbye, but once we got to Napa, it was so relaxing, and FUN! I think if you have kids, a vacay (or even a date night) without the babe(s) is essential - it gives you time to reconnect, and have fun without any worries.

We stayed at Solage Calistoga, and it was really beautiful. We stayed at an Auberge resort on our honeymoon, and I'm always up for trying another spot under the Auberge name. Each room is it's own bungalow, so you're not hearing a bunch of doors shutting or any sound coming through the walls (which is the most annoying thing on a vacation, right?!). We visited the spa for a couples massage, which was so relaxing, and they have a pretty amazing mineral pool to use after you visit the spa. As far as exploring Napa, each room comes with two beach cruiser bikes (so cute), and they offer the use of a Mercedes (oh you fancy huh!) to get out and about free of charge - we only did this one day (not the best option if you're out wine tasting). Personally, I loved the bikes. Overall, I would love to go back to Solage Calistoga - it is definitely more of a relaxing spot than a party spot, so that's something to keep in mind if you're planning a trip to wine country.

dress / bag
I'm in love with this bag - it is the perfect size.
turban / coverup (last year from victoria's secret, similar & less expensive here
My favorite winery we visited was Nickel & Nickel - it's a small winery, and there's an amazing (love) story behind it. It was so sweet and charming unlike some of the larger name wineries. I'll admit, I was not as excited to go to this winery since I hadn't heard of it, and it ended up being my absolute favorite. We were lucky enough to have dinner in the barn, and it was one of the most memorable dinners of my life. If you go to Napa, I think visiting this Nickel & Nickel is an absolute must! Have a great day loves! XO

Quinoa Kale Salad

With summer right around the corner (and my annual girls trip to Miami, holla!) I've been trying my best to exercise and eat healthy! I've turned to the trusty Pinterest for some healthy recipes to get my body ready for the beach. This salad is perfect for lunch and if you want it for dinner, I would add some grilled chicken or fish.

2 cups cooked quinoa
3 cups chopped kale
1.5 cups edamame beans
1/2 red onion
1 mango
1 avocado
2 tablespoon roasted almonds

2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1 garlic clove
1 large basil leaf chopped
1/8 teaspoon salt
fresh ground pepper to taste

Dressing / place olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, basil, and salt in blender or food processor. Blend/process for 10-15 seconds.
In medium bowl toss kale, quinoa, edamame and onion together; add lemon vinaigrette and toss so salad is fully coated. Refrigerate for 20-30 minutes to let flavors soak in.
Before serving add mango and avocado. Garnish with roasted almonds if desired.

This makes a HUGE batch and will last you all week! Enjoy!

Swimsuit Season

Good morning, ladies! I am back in NYC - we got home at midnight, and I'm already having withdrawals from the beautiful weather and (let's be honest) wine. I'll be sure to fill you in on my trip later this week. All the warm weather and pool time made me realize that swimsuit season is nearing, so I wanted to put together my beach wishlist. I always wait too long to purchase bathing suits, and the good ones are already gone, so this year I'm starting early! Have a great day - I'm off to down a latte or three.

Spring has Sprung

It's officially the first full day of spring and we have one thing on our mind - spring shopping! Above are some items we are planning on adding to our closets (most under $150!) - happy shopping!

DIY: Repurposed Candle Jars

before - empty candle jar
spoon out excess wax

Hello ladies! Today, I'm switching things up a with a quick + easy DIY (the best kind). I'm obsessed with Diptyque candles, but hate to throw away the jars - I only made that mistake once. You've probably seen all the different uses for these (and other pretty candle jars) on Pinterest, and after admiring them for some time, I decided to give it a try. It's the perfect vase for fresh blooms - I love the way it looks on my dining table. Here are the steps (it only takes about 5 minutes).

1. Take empty Diptyque (or any candle) jar, and rinse it with hot water for a few minutes (to melt the wax that is left in the jar). Be careful not to get the label wet, or it will slide off.
2. Scoop out excess wax with a spoon (pictured above).
3. Clean the jar with a sponge and dish soap.
4. Dry it out, and voila! You've got a new vase, makeup brush holder, etc.

A few of my favorite scents:

Mirrored Sunnies

Hi lovely ladies! This is a favorite look of mine - I love mixing casual and dressier pieces together! My friends were in town Friday and we started brunching early and last till about 3am (still feeling the pain, ha!) so this outfit was perfect for the day! Can't go wrong with boyfriend jeans, booties and a comfy coat! Sorry to make this super short but I have to get my day moving. Some of you probably saw on Facebook that my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and I'm home for the week to help out. I'm sure many of your have been affected by breast cancer so I'm definitely planning on doing a post on it. Make it a great day! xo

Casual Sequins

Hi ladies! Hope you all had a great weekend (and Monday, of course). I'm off to Napa today for a little vacay, and am so excited for warmer weather. Speaking of warmer weather, this is the final look I have from my trip to Arizona. I found this amazing sequin top at Zara, and wanted to pair it with something a little more casual for a night out, so decided to wear my favorite Free People cutoffs, and this jacket (only $57 !!!!). I'll be Instagramming from wine country, so be sure to follow along! Have a fabU week! XO
