Fit Friday

Happy Friday, lovers! It's been a long week, and I couldn't be more ready for the weekend - here's to hoping for some warmer weather. Just when we think spring has arrived...BOOM. Back to single digets - uhg, so over winter! Anyone with me?
Anyway, onto the topic of today: fitness. If you read this post, you already know that I long to be in amazing shape, and eat healthy, but the truth is I'm not (in shape), and don't (eat healthy). But, my friends, this is about to change (obviously, because I'm declaring it right here, right now!). If you saw the above photo on Instagram, you know I worked out for the first time (in too long) last week. Today, I'm joining a gym, and plan to start working out 3-4 times/week and know with that, I will watch what I put into my body (I'm always more conscious of this when I'm working on my fitness). I've always been the "phase girl," totally into living a healthy lifestyle for a few months, then completely fall off the wagon for 6 months - 1 year until I realize how unhappy I am. That is what I want to change - I want being healthy to become my lifestyle, not just another phase. I think making realistic goals (like working out 3-4 times/week) will help me get there. I would LOVE any tips you have for me! I swear one thing that motivates me is having great workout gear - don't you agree? Here are some things I'd like to kick off my new lifestyle (and gym membership) with. HAPPY Friday, please help me out with your favorite workouts/tips!

  1. Hey girl!! Yayyy for getting back on the fitness train! I work with an amazing trainer via email {she's out of state}, she's competes in NPC bikini competitions {and has a sick bod!} I get my workouts emailed me every week, along with my diet & meal plan. I weigh in every week and send her progress pics...for me this program just works better! I'd be more than happy to give you her info if you want. :)

  2. I'm in the same boat! I also go through phases where I'm super healthy, see the results I'm looking for, and then it's back to late night eating and making excuses for not going to the gym. I've been on a great three week kick hitting the gym + yoga 4 times a week and I already feel 100 times better!

    Here are my tips:
    - cute workout gear is a must (for me) to get excited about going to the gym/yoga. Love that Athelta jacket!
    - fitness buddy: even if this person doesn't live in the same city as you, having someone to encourage you to hit the gym makes going so much easier. I'm in my best friends wedding this summer and the bridemaids and i joined myfitnesspal and can see when each other works out and comment on the workout.
    - find a workout you love: i hate hate running but love pure barre and have recently started to do hot yoga. find something that you actually enjoy going to and you'll start to crave it!

  4. Workout gear that makes you feel pretty is a must! Lately really loving the leggings from Albion Fit. Great colors and they suck everything in!!! :) also think that finding a variety of things you enjoy is key. I fall off the wagon if I'm only spinning, only doing yoga, only running, etc. If you plan your week out by finding different kids of classes on different days, it keeps things interesting and will keep you from getting bored!

  6. Since the new year I've been committing to 3-4 days a week at the gym and what has helped me is a gym buddy and also a fitness routine that I really enjoy. I HATE running so I started religiously using the Nike Training Club app on my phone and not only is it fun, but I've seen results which is the most motivating thing to keep you in the gym. Check it out if you haven't already. Good luck!

  9. I think we can all relate to you here! LOVE how relateable your blog is!! The best advice I have gotten and can give: is lean into it. Going from not working out to working out 3-4 days a week may be tough. Start with 2 days for a few weeks then go to 3 then 4. It feels like an easier progression! My best friend, who is a trainer, told me it isn't how long you work out, but how much you put into your time there. These things have helped me! Good luck lady!

  10. Such cute picks! It makes such a difference in working out when you have cute clothes to wear, haha. Sad, but so true for me! I love the jacket and I have those headphones in white. I'm definitely with you on making the change - it's so worth it in the long run!

  11. My best advice would be try your very best not to tell yourself you're on a diet! You will just be waiting for the end of it! But if it's just the way you eat, and you allow yourself to indulge without guilt, it's so much easier to stick to! Annnnd, with working out, just go do it. YOU are your best motivator. Think of how good you feel AFTER. Sometimes, that's all that gets me out the door to run!
