#coffeetalk & best black friday deals & exciting news!

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving! We're back today with #coffeetalk & our favorite Black Friday deals (at the end...some of these are SO good)!

Do you girls have a blush brush that you love? What are your favorite blush colors?
Brooke: I've actually had the same makeup brushes since I was in high school...OMG I can't even believe it, but it's true...and I still love them! Sadly, I have no idea what brand they are! My best advice when it comes to brushes is invest in nicer ones, and read the reviews before purchasing! "Buy once, cry once" - I've had mine for 10 years, and they're still going strong! I recently picked up "Gingerly," and love it...but "Breath of Plum," is one of my all-time favorites as well.
Meggan: I use this blush brush and I also really like these from Target. I'm a Nars junkie when it comes to blush. My favorite colors are amour, angelika, orgasm, deep throat, torrid, and lovejoy. They are a little on the pricey side but the quality is great and they last a long time. I also just bought plum foolery (by MAC) which is great for everyday!

Do you have any workout routines that you like for toning legs?
Meggan: I love Tone It Up videos - this and this are my favorite for legs and booty! If I'm at the gym I do the stair stepper which I really see results from and good ol' lunges!
Brooke: Squats & lunges! My legs are definitely my "problem area," and squats and lunges along with running are the exercises that work the best for me. When I use heavy weights (while squatting and lunging) I see the best results - I know a lot of girls are afraid to use heavy weights, but it really helps to lean out and burn fat! Every body is different, but it's what works best for me, and if you feel like your legs are difficult to tone, I'd highly recommend "lifting heavy!"

Do you have any inexpensive gift ideas? My birthday is next week, and I feel like everything I "want" is expensive!
Brooke: I like receiving beauty products as gifts because I love them, but don't want to spend $$ on them often. Yes, I buy way too many nude lipsticks (it's a problem), but birthdays are a good time to ask for hair products, makeup, etc that you've been eyeing lately, but may not necessarily want to buy for yourself. Other inexpensive items I've recently picked up that would make great gifts include: these earrings, this candle, and this sweater. This is also a great list for gifts under $50!
Meggan: I like receiving gift cards to the spa, nail salon, and hair salon. Those are all little luxuries that I love but don't always want to spend money on. These are cute options all under $100: booties, fringe poncho, phone case, mug, necklace.

Your blog has inspired me to start my own, but I find the photography aspect intimidating. What do/did you do to feel more comfortable photographing your looks?
Both of us can sympathize with you - doing "photoshoots" on the street can be very intimidating! However, the more you do it, the more comfortable you will feel. It's kind of embarrassing taking photos in public - especially when people start to stop and stare, but in all honesty, they are probably just curious. Our best advice is take photos in spots that aren't extremely busy with people/tourists. Think of places that won't be busy on the weekends (if that's when you shoot your looks) like the post office, court house, etc. Eventually, you will just stop caring whether or not people are walking by - be confident, and just have fun with it!

Do you have any tips for keeping your nails strong?
Brooke: Gel/shellac manicures are what works best for my nails! I know this isn't true for everyone (my mom says they ruin her nails), but it works for me. I've also used this OPI nail strengthener in the past, and it works really well.
Meggan: I know most people say that gel manicures ruin your nails but I've been getting them for about 2 years now, every 2-3 weeks and mine are fine. This nail strengthener has great reviews.

Gift Guide: For The Homebody

Gift Guide: For The Homebody
match stick holder | coffee table book | jewelry dish | barefoot blanket
french press | matches | mug | slippers | calendar

I'm a huge homebody so any gift I get for the home, I really appreciate. Barefoot Dreams robes and blankets are the best to snuggle up with. This year I'm asking for a latte machine but a french press would be handy too! I love the copper trim on this one. This LED light saves trips (and $$) to the nail salon. You can't go wrong with getting a gift from Lulu & Georgia - the cutest home goods and trinkets.

Favorite Flat Top Sunnies

We both love our flat top sunnies - and I have yet to see someone who can't pull off the look. For some reason, the flat top seems to look good on everyone (which is a bonus because it makes ordering sunglasses online much easier!). I've been looking for a new pair, and spotted these online at Nordstrom - my local store doesn't carry every brand, but the selection online is ah-maz-ing! I actually ordered two pairs (also this pair that Meggan already has), but sent one back after trying on both at home. My pair actually comes in four other colors as well - loving the tortoise pair. The matte black version is currently sold out, but I'm sure will be restocked soon and is a bit more budget-friendly. I think I need these boots in another color since I wear them all.the.time! I'm sure you guys are probably tired of seeing them by now, but I think they'll be on heavy rotation all winter ;).
...and here are my 5 favorite flat top sunnies I've narrowed down for every budget:

A big thanks to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post! xx

Must Have Aviators

sunglasses | sweater (only $38!) | scarf | jeans | boots

Every time I walk into Nordstrom I get sucked into the sunglass section. They have a huge selection and of brands (my store even carries Celine - yaaasss!) and styles. I'm sure you can tell, but aviators are my favorite and go-to style. I have way too many pairs but that's okay because they all get worn. I fell in love with these Valentino's the second I put them on. They are SO light, it feels like you aren't even wearing sunglasses. I put these Ray-Bans (they are similar to the Valentino's) on my Christmas wish list - I'm loving the bold browline. I know a lot of people like to try on sunglasses before buying, but Nordstrom has free shipping + returns which makes it super easy! Below are a few more aviators I've been eyeing. No pun intended ;)

Huge thanks to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!

Gift Guide: Stocking Stuffers

We've rounded up our favorite stocking stuffers (or gifts, for that matter) - any of these would be perfect for your best friend, girlfriend, wife (if there are any dudes out there), or any lady in your life who deserves something special this year! xx

Favorite skinny jeans under $100?
Brooke: You've seen me wearing these recently, and I love them - they are true to size. This pair is a good non-distressed option as well - tons of great reviews!
Meggan: I love BLANKNYC. I have this pair (runs TTS) and I've been eyeing these - so cute!

Any tips for keeping the romance alive while caring for a newborn?
Brooke: I think date night is essential - even if you don't have kids yet! After you've been in a relationship for a while, you tend to fall into a routine (this is especially true after you have a baby). Gotta be honest...some days my husband probably comes home from work thinking, "WTF happened to you?!" lol. I'm wearing my sweats, no makeup, and unwashed hair...but sometimes that's just the reality of the day. That is, however, why I think at least one date night/week is necessary - it takes you back to that feeling you had when you were dating. ALSO, it's good for us mamas to get dressed up, get out, and feel like a person other than "MOMMY" for a bit...and sip a cocktail (or two).
Meggan: I agree with Brooke that date nights are definitely necessary! If you have someone to take the babe for a night, I recommend doing a staycation. I had anxiety leaving Camden for a night but it's SO nice to have a full night for just the two of you and no baby duties. Kyle also leaves love notes around the apartment, which are fun to find :) It's the little things that keep the spark alive!

What color Nars brozner do you use?
We both use LAGUNA.

What do you keep in the house for breakfast and snacks?
Brooke: For breakfast, I usually have a protein shake from Isagenix - you may remember the "cleanse" I did here, and I've loved their shakes ever since. I do one scoop chocolate, one scoop vanilla, 1/2 banana, and either 1 tablespoon of almond butter or 1 tablespoon of PB2. If I'm not having a protein shake, I'll have one of these: almond butter & banana toast, overnight oats, oatmeal, or a Mexican scrambled egg bowl (scrambled eggs, black beans, brown rice, avocado, and salsa). I snack on hummus and fresh veggies (carrots, celery, peppers), apples cut up with cinnamon or almond butter, or pretzels (not the healthiest, but I love).
Meggan: I keep my breakfasts pretty simple. Usually toast (I use ezekiel bread) with almond butter, eggs, greek yogurt + fruit, or cereal. I used to make smoothies every morning but for some reason I can't drink them anymore...I think it's because they remind me of being pregnant. Has that happened to anyone else? I'll drink them from stores but not the ones I weird! For snacks I do laughing cow cheese + apples, veggies + hummus, 100 cal guacamole packs with carrots, and whatever fruit I have on hand. Skinnytaste has a great list of snack ideas too!

Meggan - where is your coffee table and tv stand from?
Both are from Ikea - here and here. I spray painted the coffee table gold - a super easy DIY! #ikeahacks

Thoughts on Stitch Fix or services similar?
We've never actually tried Stitch Fix (or any of the similar brands), so we can't speak to the quality or experience, but if you enjoy clothes/fashion, but hate shopping we think it's a great idea! If you are unsure of putting outfits together, it could be a great help in that department as well. They have some pretty great reviews, so if you're thinking of trying it out we say go for it!

As always, comment below or email your questions to for next week! xx

Gift Guide: My Favorite Things

These are a few of my favorite things...Pure Zen is my all time favorite lip color (creamy nudish-pink) and I swear it looks good on everyone. Barefoot Dreams makes the SOFTEST robes, blankets and lounge wear. I got a robe and blanket last year for Christmas and they were both by far my favorite + most used gifts. If you want to get someone a pair of sunglasses, I would go with aviators. They look good on everyone (for the most part!) and there's so many cool options to choose from. A lot of you ask about our hair styling tools - I use this wand and Brooke uses this one. These make great gifts because it's one of those items you don't like to spend money on for yourself. And how cute are these jewelry dishes? I need one in every room!

Fall Date Night Style

We've been having a lot of date nights at tapas restaurants lately, and it's becoming my favorite. You can order tons of food, try a little of everything, and not feel overly stuffed when you're done. We went to Beauty & Essex in NYC on Monday, and I loooooved it. I had heard mixed reviews, so I wasn't expecting a lot, but I was really impressed. The decor is stunning, and you enter the restaurant through a pawn shop storefront which is the best - you'd never know a restaurant is hiding behind the back door. After dinner, we went to The Weekend concert which was really good.
If you haven't noticed, Meggan and I are pretty much obsessed with these boots, and they are currently on sale (after being sold out for months!). They go with everything from jeans & boyfriend sweaters to dresses for date night. This dress is so comfy and has a turtleneck which I love for fall/winter (get 20% off using code: "somewherelately"). This clutch (if you can even call it that) is amazing because it can hold everything a big purse can - it's huge! I got it last year for Christmas, and love it. Hope you guys are having a great week! xx
dress (20% off with code: somewherelately) | boots (on sale!) | coat (under $70!) | scarf (identical look for $10 here) | clutch | sunglasses (more affordable here

coat | boots | sweater (similar) | bag | sunglasses

I stopped in Nordstrom last week to do some Christmas shopping (the perfect one-stop shop!) and couldn't resist doing a little shopping for myself. I've been on the hunt for a black coat so I took a peak at what they had. Nordstrom has a huge selection of coats, so it was hard to pick just one BUT I'm so glad I decided to try on this oneWhile some coats can make you look like a big blob, the shape of this coat gives you structure and it's super thick! I love the detail of the asymmetrical zipper and leather trim, it makes it unique. It runs large so definitely size down if you're between sizes. I also tried on this one (in camel) and this - both are going on my Nordstrom wish list. Have you created one yet? It's an easy way for your loved ones to shop for you!

Thanks so much to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!

If there's one piece necessary for winter in New York (or anywhere with snow, for that matter), it's a warm coat! Preferably a down coat - they are the best for those freezing cold days (uhg, dreading them as I type this!). When we moved here from California 2 years ago I had given all of my warm coats away (thought we'd be in CA much longer than we were), so I had to quickly shop around for one that would keep me warm all winter without a car - aka a winter of walking/subway-ing everywhere. I found a Canada Goose, and now I don't think I'll ever buy anything else - they are SO warm. I decided I wanted a longer version this winter, and recently purchased this one (runs large, wearing an extra small). They are on the pricier side for a winter coat (a great item to put on your Holiday wishlist!), but they are worth it if you walk/are outdoors a lot in the winter, and they will last for years. I can walk around the city all day in the middle of winter wearing only a tee underneath and stay warm. My Nordstrom currently has a great selection in store, but they also have a ton of styles online (and in all sizes) for now - they sell out every single year. I had to stalk the men's department at Nordstrom last year in December to find my hubs one for Christmas. If you're considering one for this winter, I'd scoop it up as quickly as possible so you don't miss out!
coat | beanie ($24!) | Spanx leggings | sneakers | sweater | CĂ©line sunnies (at select Nordstrom stores, also love these!) Givenchy bag (love this one as well - under $200)
A big thanks to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!
