My New Years Resolutions

I can't believe 2015 is coming to an end. It was the best years yet . I know it's cliche but I love making New Years resolutions - there's just something about a fresh start!

1. Send more cards. I plan on getting better at this by writing dates in my planner and stocking up on cute cards. Paper Source has the cutest calendars/planners (love this and this) and cards (how cute is this) - a one stop shop!

2. Eat healthy and workout. I have this on my list every year (I think a lot of people do!) but I really want to cut back on processed foods and eat mostly fruits, vegetables and protein. I'm not one to deprive myself of a certain food...if I want a piece of dark chocolate, I'll eat it, but I want to go really lean! I do really good during the week and it's usually ruined by the weekend, so I definitely need to work harder on that. I share a lot of my recipes on Snapchat and will post a few recipes on the blog every month! I go the the gym 4 or 5 days a week but my work outs aren't always intense (power walking while reading a magazine anyone?) so I want to start incorporating classes and work hard while I'm there. These last few weeks have been a low-point with the holiday's and I'm ready to get back at it!

3. Less screen time. I'm honestly starting to annoy myself lately with how much I look at my phone. It's become a motion to just scroll through social media. I was walking down Michigan Ave. a few weeks ago and EVERYONE was on their phone. It's so sad we're looking down instead of up and missing everything around us. Instead of checking my phone and watching tv before bed, I'm going to start reading. If you have any book recommendations I would love to hear - I love a good murder mystery!

4. Stop procrastinating. I am the worst when it comes to putting things off. Like the worst. I put off making appointments, booking flights, doing errands, laundry, etc. I need to get better at this by following through with my to-do lists!

5. Take better care of my skin and hair. I've really been getting into skin care lately. I got my first BBL treatment last week (more on that later this week) and it made me realize how much TLC our skin really needs. I'm pretty notorious for putting off haircare too. I usually get my hair cut and colored once a year (this goes back to procrastinating!) and let it get dried out to the max, then I'm doing damage control. So this is the year of healthy skin and hair :)

I'm off to San Diego today! We are staying at Kyle's sisters and driving to Pasadena on Friday for the Rose Bowl! Camden is staying here in Dallas with Grammy. Three days without the baby...I won't even know what to do with myself ;)

Tasty Tuesday: Bacon Wrapped Dates (easy NYE appetizer)

Bacon wrapped dates are one of my top 5 favorite appetizers ever - they are SO good, and I've never met anyone who doesn't like them. They are pretty simple to make, and it's hard to mess them up (my kind of recipe). Typically, we'll be sharing simple weeknight recipes for Tasty Tuesday, but since it's almost New Year's Eve, I wanted to share an easy appetizer that anyone can make. There are a few different variations of this recipe, but I'm sharing my favorite with you below. Please let me know if you try this, and what you think! xx

INGREDIENTS
- 1 package of bacon, cut in half
- 1 package of Medjool dates, pitted (if you're not sure how to pit a date, watch this video
- 1 package cream cheese - I used a Philadelphia brick, cut into small rectangles (you'll be stuffing these into the pitted dates)
- salted & roasted almonds (one almond per date)
- toothpicks

DIRECTIONS
1. Heat the oven to 400 degrees F.
2. Stuff 1 piece of cream cheese and 1 almond into each date, wrap with bacon and secure with a toothpick.
3. Arrange dates 1 inch apart in a shallow baking pan.
4. Bake 5 minutes, flip, and continue baking for another 5-6 minutes or until bacon is crispy.
5. Remove from oven, drain on paper towel, and enjoy! SO GOOD!

If you're headed to a NYE bash at a friend's, this would be a great app to offer to bring! On the topic of food, how cute are these espresso/cappuccino cups we picked up yesterday...a perfect hostess gift! There are so many cute kitchen items out right now at West Elm & Anthro...swoon!

Holiday Drink: Rosemary Jingle Sparkler

Bringing you guys a fun little holiday cocktail today, the Rosemary Jingle Sparkler - this is super simple & a crowd pleaser! I came across a similar recipe on Pinterest, and I had to recreate it - I love how festive and pretty it is. PS - you can get 20% off any order from uncorked.com with code: TerlatoInsider - time to order some winnnneeee ;). My favorite bottle of wine is $10 cheaper on their site than at my local wine store, safe to say I'll be stocking up!

Ingredients:
1 cup fresh blackberries (or any berry of your choice)
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
fresh rosemary
1 bottle of sparkling rosé or champagne (I used Santa Margherita sparkling rosé)

Directions:
1. In a small saucepan, combine blackberries, sugar and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low - cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the consistency is syrup-like. Drain the liquid (removing the blackberries), and let it cool.
2. Once the syrup is cool, spoon it into the bottom of your champagne glasses. Top with sparkling rosé or champagne, a sprig of rosemary, a fresh blackberry, and enjoy!

1. What are your morning and nightly skincare routines?
Brooke: Morning - cleanse using TimeWise 3-in-1 cleansing bar (by Mary Kay), followed by 1 Philosphy Clear Days Ahead treatment pad, and finish with TimeWise (Mary Kay) moisturizer. I should have included these two Mary Kay products in my "beauty products I buy again & again" post because I've been using them for over 10 years, and love them (and no...I don't sell them, just love them)! The cleansing bar is also the best product I've found to clean my Beauty Blender which is great as well (I clean it every other day).
Evening - remove makeup with Simple makeup removing wipes, cleanse with Philosophy Clear Days Ahead cleanser, then Clear Days Ahead pad, and finally TimeWise moisturizer mixed with La Mer (since my skin has been much dryer lately, I've been mixing a tiny amount of La Mer with the Mary Kay). I'm still not sure if La Mer is worth the price tag or not, but it does help with dry skin, so I'm going to use what I have until it's gone! I was using Shiseido eye cream at night, but think I may be allergic to something in it (still determining that, stay tuned!). I use this mask (for breakouts) once every other week, and this mask (for overall better skin) once/week - I love both! I really need to add a toner into my skincare routine, and I'd like to add some facial oils as well - I'll keep you posted on what I try and if I like it or not!
Meggan: Morning - my morning routine is pretty simple. I cleanse with the Clarisonic, then apply Shiseido eye cream, and use this moisturizer. I do a face mask and exforliate a couple times a week, this and this are my favorites.
Evening - I remove my makeup with Clinique cleansing balm (it seriously melts the makeup off your face), moisturize with Clarins night youth recovery cream, and apply Shiseido eye cream.

2. Brooke, what should I pack for my upcoming NYC trip (New Year's Eve + daytime/additional nighttime options, please!)?
It's been abnormally warm lately, so you're in luck if that weather continues! I would say layering will be key - bring a warm coat, sweaters, tees, and sneakers for sure during the day if you plan to do a lot of walking (I wear these (size down 1/2 size) whenever I'm in the city)! For NYE you can really go all out if you want - that's what I love about NYC. You could be walking down the street with the craziest outfit ever, and most people won't even take a second look ;). I found a few great options for NYE: this dress would be perfect for a glitzy night out (I might snag this one for myself), this would be great for a romantic dinner, and you could wear this faux fur jacket with these pants & these heels any and everywhere!

3. How did you meet & decide to start a blog together?
We've answered this before, but new followers have been asking a lot, so we're answering again! We met in high school through mutual friends (but we lived in different towns), and were really just acquaintances before we started blogging together. We were both blogging separately when we decided to join forces & start a blog together. Blogging takes a lot of time, and both of us wanted to continue blogging without having to spend SO much time on it. Having two people work on the same blog cuts the time spent in half, so it was a great option for us!

4. How do you agree on content to post & who posts what/when?
We typically have a few posts we want to highlight each month - for example in December, we wanted to share holiday outfits, party dresses, holiday decorating, etc. We will bounce those ideas off of each other and just decide who will do what. We post at least 5 days/week, and we switch off days...so one of us will post Monday/Wednesday, and the other will post on Tuesday/Thursday, and we come together for #coffeetalk on Fridays! When we don't have a specific post scheduled, we trust each other enough to come up with good content ;).

5. Do you have an editorial calendar for each month?
No - this is something we've been trying to do better at, but our posts are pretty organic/spontaneous/not planned out too far in advance. We keep going back and forth as to whether or not we should create a monthly editorial calendar. It would be simple, and would probably make us more organized, but we haven't gotten there yet ;). We have certain guidelines we try to stick to (for example - one outfit/week from each of us, #coffeetalk on Fridays), but the rest is pretty much whatever we're feeling at the time of blogging!

6. Have you considered a summer intern? If so, can I apply?
We had a contributor earlier this year, and it was SO great - we loved her! Right now, we feel like we have a pretty good handle on things...but we are always open to the idea! If you are interested, please shoot us an email with your resume & why you'd be interested/what you would want to do for us, and we will definitely take it into consideration!

7. Favorite nail salons in Chicago & NYC?
Meggan: I go to Pinky Nail - there's quite a few around the city. They always do a great job and I like their selection of gel colors.
Brooke: I used to go to Pinky Nail when I lived in Chicago too (loved it!). There are SO many in NYC, and most of them are good. Check out The Gel Bar (they specialize in gel nails - Midtown) or Primp & Polish (in Brooklyn), and if you don't make it to either of those honestly most of the hole in the wall nail salons in NYC are pretty great!

8. Favorite hair spray?
Brooke: My favorite is this one by Kenra, but I use good old TRESemme on the regular.
Meggan: Like Brooke, I always go back to good ol' TRESemme!

Camden + Mommy's 6th Month Update

I can't believe I had this little guy 6 months ago! It has gone so fast but at the same time it feels like it was just yesterday. These pictures are outtakes from our Christmas card (check snapchat to see the final product!) which turned out so cute!

Height/weight: 16.5 pounds and 27 inches

Sleep: finally sleeping through the night - YAY! I actually owe this to Brooke because she taught me the trick that started it. I was still giving him a bottle when he would wake-up in the middle of the night, so I started giving him water instead of milk so he would learn he wasn't getting fed - it only took a week to train him! He sometimes wakes up for his paci but he falls right back asleep. We've been pushing up his bedtime, he goes to bed around 8/8:30 and wakes up around 7. He also gets two solid naps in during the day, each about 1-2 hours.

Eating: Drinking 7oz every three hours and we started baby food a couple weeks ago. He LOVES eating and opens his mouth real big when he see's the spoon! So far he's tried sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, pears, and prunes.

Milestones:
-Sitting up on his own! Sometimes it's only a few seconds but he's getting there!
-Rolling all over the place
-Puts his paci in his mouth all by himself
-Laughs so much now. This is such a relief after being colic. There is nothing better then hearing his giggles.
-Wants to grab onto EVERYTHING! He knocks my phone and drinks out of my hands all the time!
-Still no teeth, but tons of drool.
-He does so good when I drop him off at the gym daycare. They said he never cries (of course) and loves watching the kids run around.
-Everything goes straight to the mouth
-Has been on 22 flights...tomorrow will be his 23rd, LOL! He's been to New York, Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota (can you tell we're from the midwest?!), Texas, California, Turks & Caicos, and Cabo. #jetsetter

6 MO. FAVORITES

How mommy's doing...
I finally feel like a pro...to the point where I'm even giving out baby advice to people, ha! I am SO much happier now that the colic has passed. I'm not going to lie, the days were long and sometimes I felt like I was going to go insannne. Crying baby + out of control hormones + being attached to the pump was not a fun mix! I stopped pumping a few weeks ago so he's no longer getting breastmilk. It was bittersweet but I was happy I made it to my goal. Now he's drinking Honest formula. It made him constipated at first but his stomach is better now. Oops I forgot this section is about mommy, not baby ;) I go to the gym 4 or 5 days a week to get a little break and relieve some stress ;) I've lost all the baby weight but still need to do some major toning. I post some of my workouts on snapchat so make sure to follow along.

My friend had her baby a month ago so now I have a mommy-friend to hang out with during the day! None of my best friends have kids yet (and won't for a longgg time!) so it's nice to have someone to talk to about how many poops your kid is taking a day and nap schedules, haha! #momlife I've noticed my hair is starting to fall out (two bald spots in the front, eeek!) and I have tons of baby hairs. My SIL warned me this was going to happen. Other then that I think my body is pretty much back to normal! Did anything weird happen to you post-baby?

It's been a big change but I love being a mommy! All the hard days are worth it and Kyle is an amazing dad. If he knows it's been a bad day he will come home from work and tell me to go get my nails done. He is a huge help! Can't wait for another 6 months with my little boo!

and the bloopers...
xo

Cozy Neutrals

Are you guys sick of these boots (free 2-day shipping!) yet? lol...we seriously wear them all the time. Probably time to get something else on rotation ;), but they look good with almost everything and they're comfortable, so we are wearing them as often as we can before the snow comes! I love the fringe on this sweater - I have so many H&M sweaters in my cart right now, and they're offering free shipping today with code: 3277 (order by Dec. 21 in order to get it delivered by Christmas Eve). I've been hit hard with a sore throat & cough, so I'm trying to recover before our guests get into town on Friday! I feel like I have so much to do and definitely no time to be sick - uhg! Hope you are all having a great week! xx

coat (similar) | sweater c/o | jeans | boots (on SALE!) | sunglasses

It's been an extremely warm winter (no complaints here!) in Chicago which means my winter jacket is still in storage. My coat is from French Connection but is no longer made. This is very similar - the belt is a great touch. Some days I don't even need a coat! This cashmere sweater from Leo & Sage is so soft and warm. I would be lying if I said I don't wear it every other day - ha!

P.S Christmas is almost here! If you need help with gifts, be sure to check out our gift guides: favorite things, stocking stuffers, something for the fellas, for the jetsetter, for the homebody.
