One Free People Dress, Two Ways

dress (wearing an XS) | booties | sunglasses
I was on the hunt for an effortless dress, so immediately went to the Free People section on my latest trip to Nordstrom. I needed something that can be thrown on with sandals, booties or whatever! I love how Brooke paired it with a pair of skinny jeans - perfect for when it starts to cool off. If you live too far from a Nordy's to stop in, no worries (with free shipping + returns) - their online selection is amazing! We still order online (sometimes it's just easier than hitting the dressing room with strollers!).

When Meggan and I realized we both picked up this Free People dress from Nordstrom, we thought it would be fun to share two different looks with the same piece. I tried mine on in store with these flares (which I had to snag after seeing the price tag of $78 - I could NOT believe it), but really wanted to wear my new booties out for date night, so threw on my favorite pair of skinnies. I love pieces that can be worn several different ways, and this dress is the perfect example. I also considered snagging some knee-high socks, and throwing on my OTK boots - another great look!

Here's what I brought in the dressing room with me (and loved)...

Huge thanks to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!

The Naked Cake

I have wanted to bake a 'naked cake' for so long, but always felt a bit intimidated. Sophia's 3rd birthday was this week, and I knew I wanted to try it out for her special day. I'm SO glad I had my mom to help me - she made the buttercream frosting (which was sooooo good - recipe below), and helped me figure out the best way to stack the layers (we went with 4). We used two boxes of Duncan Hines white cake mix for the actual cake, and it was seriously so good! We topped the cake with sifted confectioners' sugar and fresh blooms, and I think it turned out so cute. Happy weekend! xx
PS - How cute is her chambray button-down? It's currently 25% off!

Buttercream Frosting:
1 cup butter, softened
4 cups confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons whole milk
1/4 teaspoon of almond extract (you could also use vanilla, and add more or less to taste)

Grey Matter

long sleeve | jeans | ear cuff | clutch | pumps | blazer
booties | sunglasses | sweater | bag

Grey is one of our all time favorite colors to wear. It's chic, neutral, classic and is a great transition color from summer to fall. We are especially loving the grey on grey trend. How cute would this grey dress with this jacket - perfection! Brooke is traveling home to NY today and my mom is here for a long weekend to see the baby (I'm basically chopped liver now). Have a great day loves!

Grey Orange & Blue

top | pants (simliar here & here) | heels | sunglasses | bag | necklace c/o

I bought these pants a week after I had Camden - they didn't fit at the time but I was determined to fit in them before summer/fall was over. I slipped them on yesterday and was SO pumped they buttoned! They're from Zara and sold out so I linked to similar pairs. I paired them with a classic grey Vince shirt and bright blue heels to add some contrast. It's felt like fall this week but the temps are supposed to go up again. I'm excited for fall but not ready to leave summer behind yet! I'm also obsessed with my LOVE necklace from Ragen Jewels. So minimalistic and great for everyday! P.S props to the moms who do their hair everyday, I can only seem to get mine into a bun lately ;)

As you know, I'm trying to get back to my workouts and healthy eating post-baby, and there's nothing more motivating than cute fitness gear...am I right?! Carbon38 has tonnnsss of amazing fitness (and non-fitness) threads, and there are so many pieces I want to add to my closet. I recently got this Mara Hoffman outfit, and am in love. The pants are so comfortable, and the top is perfect for that little extra fluff I've got going on right now ;). I really want to grab one of these amazing sports bras to go under the top for my workouts...so awesome! Shop a few more of my faves from Carbon38 here:

Bondi Jumpsuit

Before I had Camden, I told myself I was still going to get dressed everyday (no sweatpants!) and still do my makeup. OMG do I laugh when I think about that statement now - comfy clothes are on repeat over here!! However, thanks to companies like Carbon38, you don't have to sacrifice style for comfort. They carry the hottest sportswear labels that make style statements from the gym to the streets. Seriously how cute is this jumpsuit? I love how effortless and cool it is. This draped jacket and weekender bag are on my wishlist!

Laced Up

lace-up bodysuit | denim cutoffs | bag (via Trendlee - use code "BROOKESUMWERL8LY" for 5% off your purchase!) | sunnies (similar

Happy Friday lovely laaadies! I've been looking for a lace-up bodysuit for quite a while - it's definitely a more daring look than I normally wear, but it's perfect for vacation mode. You can wear it out at night, on a boat if you're not up for throwing on a bikini, or even during the day if you're brave enough ;). I do think it's a look you have to be careful with or it could easily look too over the top!
How cute is this little  Valentino crossbody? I'm all about the small bags lately (since I always have my diaper bag with me as well), and this one is perfect! It's from Trendlee, and they are offering our readers a 5% discount on your purchase by using the code "BROOKESUMWERL8LY" at checkout! Hope you have a great weekend! xx

Thoughts for Thursday

We are still soaking up our vacay - it's been raining all week (bummer!), but today is beautiful so we are headed out to lunch and enjoy the sun! A few things on my mind today...

1. This is one seriously beautiful home tour you need to check out! Amber kills it every time!

2. I'm getting my hair done later today, and I'm thinking of chopping it even shorter and making the ends a little lighter. Once you chop, you can't stop! I'm loving my shorter hair, it's more fun! Love this cut...

3. Is it bad to say I'm getting excited for fall & fall fashion? Let's not get it confused...I loathe winter, but love fall! I'll be sad when summer is over, but I'm actually looking forward to saying goodbye to the heat and humidity! This pre-fall edit is all kinds of amazing!

Have a fab day!! xx
