Kitchen Plans & Inspo

Totally non-kitchen related...but before we get into that, I have to let you know one of the BEST sales of the season started today at Shopbop! Save up to 25% on your spring/summer wardrobe with code: BIGEVENT16! Okay, onto the kitchen!

We've started the process of renovating our kitchen, but everything seems to take so long (and we haven't even started the demo yet lol). I'm planning to blog the entire process - so lots of before, during, and after photos to come! We're finalizing the design decisions this weekend, and will start demo as soon as the cabinets arrive. PS - I'm having such a hard time choosing cabinets, please let me know your opinion on my two favorites below, I have to decide by Saturday! Let's start with some inspo...

I originally wanted to do gray, but my husband & our realtor pushed for white since "it's safer" for resale. We did white in our last kitchen (see the before & after here), so I wanted to do something different, but I'm fine with white - it's classic and I don't really think you can go wrong.

...and now I need your help! I always thought I would want a Shaker cabinet, but I recently saw these cabinets in a kitchen and kind of fell in love. They look very similar to a shaker, but have just a bit more detail. We're planning to do brass pulls (if that makes a difference at all).
...and here's the Shaker
Please help! I'd love to hear your thoughts! xx

A few recent kitchen purchases...obsessed with the marble utensil holder!

  1. I like the simplicity of shaker but both are beautiful!

  2. The first cabinets will look fantastic with brass accents! And trust me, brass vs. silver is a big difference! I work for an interior designer and it's really all about the details. I'm personally a big fan of brass fixtures like in the first shot you posted of the sink; you have a great eye! Congratulations on your reno and good luck!

  4. I think you can totally go with the cabinet u love with the brass pulls. They are very modern and sleek looking, so if that's the look you're going for it will look great!! Can't wait to see !! Xo

  5. obsessed with brass pulls, I'm leaning torwards the first picture

What about a charcoal colored island? Cheating Heart by Benjamin Moore with Brass . Plus from a resale standpoint I think if they didn't like the gray at least that's a smaller thing they could repaint

  6. I think if you really feel in love with those cabinets than go for it! They are GORG! Plus with brass pulls they will look amazing. I too thought I loved shaker cabinets and just bought a house with a kitchen that was reno-ed by a flipper and the cabinets aren't shaker but they are a light off white color and they are gorgeous! Everyone who comes over is all like "WOWZA your kitchen is AMAZE!" So excited for you!! Post pics asap!

  7. Love the cabinets pictured in the first picture, still as simple and chic as the Shaker but with more detail. Can't wait to see everything come together!

  8. The shaker is a classic! But I think the second style would add just the right amount of detail while staying clean and simple. I personally enjoy cabinets with a beveled edge (pinterest link below). It's the little things, right?

Good look with your reno! Looking forward to reading about the process.

  9. I think both cabinet options are great! Obvi the shaker style is so classic but the small detail on the other is beautiful. If you have a ton of cabinets it could become busy something to keep in mind. Excited to see it all come together. Also, I recently purchased a smaller version of the marble utensil holder above at Target to hold toothbrushes in the bathroom. The little things!
