Two Ways To Wear Work Pants

We've had quite a few requests to share more "work style," so we're bringing you two office looks today - one for a casual office environment, and one for a business casual office. We're both wearing the same pair of Express pants in different colors, and are kind of obsessed. They're so comfortable, flattering, and can easily be dressed up or down as we're showing you today!
When I was in the corporate world, I worked in a couple different offices - one was business professional (uhg, hated having to wear a full suit every day!), and the other was business casual - much more appreciated! I pretty much lived in black pants like these (I love an ankle pant), and just rotated blouses and sweaters. Now that I work from home, I'm usually in sweats and baggy tees ;), but when we have events or meetings with brands, we want to look put together while still showing our personal style. This is a look I would wear to a meeting (or brunch/happy hour/drinks with a girlfriend), and could definitely be worn to an office with a casual dress code as well. If you like the look but have a business casual dress code, simply throw on a pair of loafers or pumps and sub a blazer for the denim jacket and you're set!
I've been looking for a denim jacket with either embroidery or patches, so when I saw this one online I had to add it to my cart! I love the oversized fit (I'm wearing a XS), and the patches are perfect, not overly crazy. Meggan and I both bought this tee (in a small), and agreed it's our current favorite...so soft and the ultimate boyfriend fit.
Express has so many basic pieces for work that are perfect for mixing and matching. My vest and tank (it comes in a few different colors!) would be cute with the pants Brooke is wearing for a sleek look. The vest is my favorite. I threw it on with jeans, sneakers and a tee and it looked SO cute! It really makes an outfit come together, business or casual ;)
These pants have 5 stars with over 100 reviews online - after I read them I had to order! They really do live up to the hype. The fit, style, and length are great...I definitely would recommend them. I'm thinking about getting them olive green too.

  4. I am about to start a new job and these looks were perfect inspo. I have 5 pairs of pants from Express I got a long time ago but wasn't wearing them in my last job because they were too dressy. However they have held up their value and I can't wait to bust them out again! You both wearing them here makes me excited to bring them back out!

  13. Sorry, but neither of these outfits are work appropriate if you work in a typical office. Yes, maybe its OK if you work at Vogue or someplace similar but the majority of people do not work at Vogue. I normally wouldn't comment and say something negative but as someone who supervises interns at work, I think you are doing young women a disservice by making it seem like wearing something like this to work is OK, not to mention making my job harder when I have to find a way to nicely tell a young woman that these kinds of outfits aren't acceptable.

    1. I'm sorry but I have to disagree. It might depend where your from, but I think this is totally appropriate and acceptable in any "big" modern city in the world :) I love the outfit <3

    2. Thanks for commenting...maybe you didn't read the post. Brooke said she would wear her outfit to a meeting now (as a blogger), but if you work in a business casual office you could put on pumps or loafers instead of sneakers and swap out the denim jacket for a blazer (essentially creating a "suit" look - we're sure that is office appropriate). And for Meggan's outfit, if shoulders and open toes aren't acceptable, adding long sleeves and pumps would make it very office-friendly. We're not saying take this exact outfit to your office, it's about creating looks that work for the office you (the reader) work in! I'm sure everyone knows what the dress code is in their office and could easily adapt the looks - if not, maybe a company meeting or email should be sent out so people don't have to spend company time monitoring outfits ;). None the less, we can appreciate your comment (and viewpoint) even if you don't care for the looks. Have a great day!

  14. I do think these outfits fit! They look very modern and stylish. Don't let the "somewhat" negative comment above me fool you. This is truly how a modern lady should look today!
