City Living

Happy Sunday, hope you ladies had a great weekend! Ours went by way too quickly, and I'm sad it's over! We ventured into the city, explored some new neighborhoods, and stuffed ourselves full of (way too much) amazing food & wine! Whenever we go to the city, we ask ourselves...should we move back? We love the energy of the city, the restaurants (we head to the city pretty much every date night), and the cultures and different neighborhoods. We've talked about this a lot lately...maybe moving back or possibly getting a (very small) place in the city & going back and forth between the suburbs and the city. While I feel like we're far from making a final decision, it's something we're always open to, and we love looking at potential properties. So, when we were asked to come check out Greenland Forest City Partners' new development 550 Vanderbilt in Brooklyn, we jumped at the opportunity! The units are still being built, so we went to the sales gallery to check out the floor plans & finishes.
The open kitchen in these units is definitely going to be the best part! It's something that's difficult to find in NYC spaces, and I was in love with the modern finishes. I could definitely cook here ;). Our first apartment in New York had a tiny galley kitchen, so this was the highlight of the space for me!
I love the waterfall island!
Sophia had fun pretending we lived there ;). She kept asking for "more cereal please!"
There will be 278 residences - a mix of studios to four-bedrooms including duplexes, maisonettes with private entrances (yes please!) and penthouses (in my dreams ha!). One of my favorite parts (and a "must" in my opinion) of living in the city was having a beautiful outdoor space in the middle of the concrete jungle, and 550 Vanderbilt will have a rooftop terrace - perfect for summer nights with friends or family BBQs! Possibly the best feature is the 8-acre brand new Pacific Park that the building actually sits amazing, I can't wait to see how beautiful it is! Obviously living near a park in the city is difficult, let alone in the middle of one!
dress (on sale under $50!) | sunnies | shoes (budget friendly identical pair here
The building is literally steps from Barclays Center, tons of restaurants & shopping, a grocery store, and the subway - honestly the most convenient neighborhood I've been to in New York. I loved getting a taste of Brooklyn living (learn more about 550 Vanderbilt here)...what do you think? Would you live in the city or the burbs?

Weekend Deals

My jacket has been restocked!! It's on sale for $65 and seriously looks and feels high end. Kinda thinking I want need it in green too! I got a XS.

I'm a huge fan of Nars blush (seriously have way too many colors) and was so excited to see this cheek palette on sale!

Kinda obsessed with these color block heels (black/dusk/cognac combo). How perfect would they be for fall?

Cute and simple t-shirt dress and it's only $10!

This coat is so gorgeous and on sale! We are in love with the tan!

I just bought this blanket & I haven't been this excited about a purchase in a long time. My girls both have these blankets (in the baby size), and I never realized they made adult versions! WINNING! Literally. worth. it. Read the reviews! ;)

This pair of earrings is so cute and so are these crawlers!

I tried this poncho on in store and fell in love! Can't decide between the grey and tan!

I stocked up on these Hanky Panky's and this Natori bra (it's soooo amazing) at the Nordstrom sale.

I got a few things for Camden from the Nordstrom sale - these pants, these jeans (adorable), and these chukka boots.

This tote is so cute and on sale! Looks similar to Valentino.

1. Do you have any suggestions for eye creams that are under $50? I have sensitive skin and no discoloration, just looking for one to help age well (or not at all lol).
We both use the Tula revitalizing eye cream and think it would be great for you (we also have sensitive skin!). It is very moisturizing, helps reduce fine lines, and keeps your eyes looking refreshed. It's also great under makeup. We also have THIS one and love it (just over $50), and we've heard amazing things about THIS ONE (only $18!), but haven't tried it ourselves - check out the reviews though!

2. How did you decide on your kids names?
Brooke: We had a few different names at the top of our list each time, and we would say them out loud and decide which was our favorite and felt "right." I looked at every website, book, and list possible...I had a LOT of names that I loved and my hubby was like no way lol (his requirement is that it needs to look good on a resume - ha!). However, we never set the name in stone until they were born...just in case! ;)
Meggan: I had the hardest time coming up with boy names! It was between Hudson and Camden so I would just write them out/say them all the time and Camden was the one that stuck! I first heard the name from Kristin Cavallari.

3. Meggan, what does your arrow tattoo mean, if anything?
It has no! It was one of those spontaneous outings with my friends. Head to snapchat (@somewherelately) to hear the story ;)

4. I'm having a low key bachelorette party in Tuscon, AZ and I have outfits planned for the night, but need daytime casual outfits. I'm already wearing a white romper and jumpsuit at night, so I wanted to change it up and do something different during the day! What do you guys think?
We love this romper (it's so fun for daytime!), this bodysuit with cutoff shorts (perfect for AZ!), and this linen midi dress if you're looking for a more casual vibe.

5. I need help finding a handbag for fall - one that is under $200 and goes with neutrals!
This shoulder bag is so perfect for fall and it's on major sale (goes back to $230 after the sale) - love the leopard and black combo! This drawstring tote comes in four colors (love the taupe) and is only $36. This tassel bucket bag and this tote are great options!

6. I just got engaged and was wondering if you could share some cute ideas for asking your bridesmaids and groomsmen to be apart of your wedding party? How did you guys do it and what was your advice?
Meggan: I gave all my bridesmaids a bouquet of flowers and a card (this one) when I asked them. My friend recently asked me with a bottle of wine that had a personalized label which was so cute (and who doesn't love vino?!). I also love these mugs - so many cute options! I personally wouldn't go too over the top, stick to something simple and sweet.
Brooke: It's been 5 years since I asked my girls to be bridesmaids, and I didn't do anything cute - just called each of them and asked (because we lived far apart). I feel like people didn't really do cute things 5 years ago like they do today...but love all of Meggan's suggestions above! If I was getting married today, I think I would do something like this.

7. I just bought an oversized brim hat like you two have been wearing! How and when can you wear one?! Can I wear it inside a restaurant? Can I wear it in the evening?
You can wear it where ever and whenever you want! We wear ours with jeans & a tee, dresses, to restaurants, running errands, happy hour, really whenever! You can also totally wear it in the evening, but it's a little more difficult (we think!), and we typically stick to wearing it during the day.

8. I'm stumped on what to get my fiancé for our wedding day gift. Any recommendation would be appreciated!
wallet or a watch (love this one & it's on sale!) are great gifts - a watch is special because he could wear it on the day of your wedding. You could have a jeweler engrave your wedding date on the back! Cufflinks would also be a great gift - you can get personalized ones like these.

9. I am looking for an outfit that is between daytime work attire and "going out" at night for my work party. I would ideally like to keep the cost around $100 or less. I was thinking either a dress or romper/jumpsuit. Would love your suggestions!
This dress is super cute and on sale! Also loving this jumpsuit (could wear a blazer over it at work), this printed dress, and this jumpsuit (would be cute with wedges!).

10. Meggan, I'm moving to Chicago in a few weeks and I need some hair salon recommendations. I'm a natural blonde and really want to dye my hair brown!
I go to Solo Salon in West Loop and can't recommend them enough! I go to Lauren but she recently moved to LA so I just catch her whenever she comes back to Chicago (she announces it on her instagram @laurlombardo). But I would also recommend going to Chloe, she's done my hair and is great at coloring. I'm getting my hair done for a much needed touchup ;)

11. I would love some advice on swimsuits (preferably white) for my destination wedding. They need to be appropriate to wear around guests for our events, excursions, etc. Would love some coverups to go with!
There's so many white suits we are loving right now! This one is cute (and on sale!), this Marysia one has always been a favorite, and this off-the-shoulder is amazing! This stripped one is really cute and only $16! We are also huge fans of Triangl swimwear - they have SO many cute options. Love the white top with floral bottoms. Perfect for a destination wedding! This crochet caftan is a cute coverup and so is this maxi!

12. What do each of you like to wear on airplanes to look but comfy, especially during the summer months?
Meggan: I seriously wear this jumpsuit with white sneakers almost every time I fly in the summer. It is beyonnndd comfortable and so soft. I throw on a chambray button down if I'm chilly on the plane. I also have a couple knit midi dresses (like this) that I like to wear. I'm all about being comfortable when I travel now, especially since I have a little guy that crawls all over me on the plane!
Brooke: I usually wear these leggings with a tee, and bring a cardigan or a scarf (I'm always freezing on planes), a hat, and sunglasses! The air on airplanes makes your hair really limp, so I like to just put it up in flight, and throw my hat on when we land.

13. I have been searching high and low for a cute dress for my wedding welcome party. I was thinking maybe a maxi, have you ladies seen any that caught your eye?
This one is simple but pretty (love it with a small belt like the model is wearing), this floral one (amazzzing), you could dress this one up with some fun jewelry and sandals, this one is gorgeous and comes in so many colors! AND just found this lace one! Very bridal-ish and something you can wear again and again.

As always, leave your questions for next week below or email them to with #coffeetalk in the subject line. Hope you all have a fab weekend!! xx

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Favorites

Has anyone else done a liittttttle too much shopping at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?! It's honestly the one time I have zero guilt because I save up for it each year, and I know that all of these pieces are going to go BACK to regular price as soon as the sale ends! I did my first round online, and have gone a few more times to the store - I swear, you discover something new every time lol! If you don't have these leggings yet, you need to buy them now! They are seriously THE best.
As soon as I tried on these pumps, I had to have them - seriously so comfortable & the price is right (under $100)! I think I'm going to buy them in black as well b/c I love them so much, and they also come in burgundy - my favorite color for fall! I walked around the city all day, and my feet honestly felt fine at the end of the day, really! I'm usually a 7.5, but went up to an 8 in these.
jacket (also love this one!) | shoes | jeans | sunglasses | topshop top (also love this tank version) | taupe bag
I bought a lot of staples from the sale - this moto jacket (only $65!), these booties, these leggingsthis tee (so many colors) and these over-the-knee boots - but I also got a couple fun pieces like this bodysuit! It's perfect for date night, girls night out, etc. You can't wear a bra with it so I use either these petals or this bra. They are lifesavers!
bodysuit | bag (love it in tan!) sandals | belt | sunglasses (similar) | ring

My glasses are Celine and I bought them in store last week. After I saw Kourtney wearing them in KUWTK (my guilty pleasure) I had to have them. This pair looks similar and are under $100! I love Quay sunglasses...there's so many pairs I want (these are SO good) but think I need to slow down in the sunglass department ;)

Kendra Scott

Kendra Scott's fall line just launched and o-m-g, we are obsessed! We've been big fans of her line for so long - her earrings are always THE best. We each chose a few pieces to try & now we have a lot more on our wishlists! We each have this necklace & these earrings (I was getting a ton of questions about them on snapchat - these are the gray granite ones) and they are definitely our favorite from the whole collection - so cool and unique! PS - Kendra Scott now offers FREE SHIPPING #yaaasssss!
The rose gold and granite are the most perfect combo and I seriously cannot get enough! This ring and this bracelet are in my cart.
neck cuff | top (similar here) | jeans | bag | earrings

I love this necklace - I've already worn it with jeans and a tee as well as a plunging neck dress & it looked so cute with both! I can also layer it with my other necklaces which is perfect.
As we mentioned above, this neck cuff is one of our favorites from the whole collection! I've been looking for one for so long, and love the details of this one. Also, it's really comfortable on (I've tried some on that aren't so great comfort wise).

Our Drugstore (and other inexpensive) Beauty Favorites - everything under $15

Here today with a reader request (from this post) of drugstore beauty favorites! A lot of our beauty products are on the more expensive side (not crazy expensive, but also not drugstore), but there are quite a few products we LOVE all under $15! Everything on this list is truly something we love - we have a ton of drugstore beauty products, but only put our absolute favorites on this list for you!

Rose Salve - this is probably our #1 favorite inexpensive beauty item. There's nothing better for chapped lips/skin. HANDS DOWN best best best ever (we even like this better than expensive lip serums we've tried!). We love this one (on sale!) and this one.

Simple Face Wipes - These are perfect for days when you're super lazy, and don't feel like removing your makeup. I have sensitive skin and these don't irritate it at all.

Rimmel Lipstick - This is my favorite nude drugstore lipstick ever! The consistency is perfect, and the color is amazing (I use shade 14).

Burt's Bees lipstick - We both love the color options this lipstick comes in, and the consistency is great!

Maybelline Lip Liner - I love love love this lip liner (I use the shade Toast)! It's creamy, and doesn't rub off quickly.

NYX matte lip cream - this is so good! We love the shades: Stockholm, Tres Leches, and Milan.

Flower Cheek & Lip Chubby - I have this in the shade 'Apricot a lot,' and I love it! It really works great for both cheeks and lips and the color is perfect!

Maybelline Dark Circles Eraser - I really loooooove this concealer, it's the only drugstore concealer I've tried and love. I'm really picky about concealer and need FULL coverage - this gives it to you and I love the application, it's super easy!

NYX Color Correcting Concealer - This palette is a great drugstore color corrector option. The consistency is great, and it works well! I also love this color corrector for redness (my main issue).

L'Oreal Instant Tan Lotion - I linked this the other week along with my favorite self-tanners, but again this is awesome! It goes on easily without streaking (I mix it with a little lotion), gives you instant color, and dries quickly! We also love these tanning towels!

Flower Mascara - This is a new one we've recently tried & love! We love the option of adjusting the brush to achieve different lash looks!

Bottom Lash Mascara - We didn't even know we needed this until we tried it and now there's no turning back! No under-eye smudges or mistakes with this little guy!

L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara - This was the ONLY mascara I used for over 3 years, and I love it. It's still at the top of my mascara lists (of any price!). I have pretty lame lashes naturally, and this makes them nice and long without being clumpy.

We love finding new drugstore favorites! Please let us know what we need to try in the comments below! xx

Casual Comfortable

dress (go up a size) | hat | sunglasses | sneakersbag

Happy Monday! I actually couldn't wait for today because yesterday I was not feelin' so hot. If you saw my snaps you know what I'm talking about ;) Momma can't hang anymore! Andddd if you saw my snaps...we're moving to DALLAS! I'm so excited to be close to family (literally - our house is two blocks from Kyle's parents!) and to finally be in a house. I'm definitely going to miss Chicago so much and of course all my friends but I'm ready for a new chapter.  Luckily, it's a short flight ;) We aren't moving until end of November so I have a huge bucket list of things I want to do here before we leave. I will post more about it once it gets closer! Okay, on to my outfit! This dress is SO comfortable (the material is super soft) and perfect for when you don't feel like getting dressed up. I love the black but thinking about ordering the grey as well - I know I will be wearing it all the time this fall! I would definitely go up a size. xx
