Good morning lovahs! Hope you all had a great weekend! Ours was pretty relaxed – we finally got out of the house, and hit the city for a bit on Sunday. This was my first “major” outing (other than running to the store/errands) since having Avery 2 weeks ago. We made a trip to Aroma Espresso for some amazing coffee + hot chocolate (best hot chocolate I’ve ever had). If you live in NYC, or are visiting, it’s a must – there are multiple locations around the city.
Okay, on to the topic of today…body after baby.
One thing I feel like NOBODY tells you before you have a baby is this: You still look pregnant after you have your baby. I know – WTF. This is not something you want to hear. Every woman’s body is different, and the amount of weight you gained during pregnancy also plays a big part of how quickly you will lose your belly. I gained 30 pounds with both of my pregnancies, but definitely ate healthier the first time around. This pregnancy, all I craved was sweets, while during my first pregnancy I wanted fruit on fruit on fruit. I definitely gave in to all of my cravings this time (if you didn’t notice on Instagram), but I also made sure to eat healthy, nutrient-rich foods throughout the past 9 months. Thus far, I’ve lost 20 of the 30 lbs I gained (thanks to an 8lb 8 oz baby + breastfeeding), and will be 3 weeks postpartum on Thursday. I feel good about where I’m at, and so happy I can wear my regular clothes again, but I definitely have a long way to go (and a LOT of toning to do – hello fluff!) before I reach my goal. I’m not so concerned about the number on the scale (I don’t even own a scale, only know my weight from a visit to the doctor yesterday), but rather the way I feel…and look in a bikini if I’m being totally honest. We set up a small home gym with a treadmill, weights, and stability balls, and I’m planning to slowly ease into a routine. I am going to be documenting this journey in hopes it will keep me in check – if you want to follow along, I’ll be setting up a separate instagram account (I’ll let you know once it’s up + running). Here we goooo (yikes – a little nervous to share these!).
