Happy Monday ladies! How was your weekend? Ours was less than thrilling lol – we were unpacking, cleaning, organizing (which was actually kind of fun – shared a little peek inside my fridge on instastories last night), more unpacking, and running errands. We have contractors in and out of the house, but are loving the move so far! I’ll share more later this week – stay tuned. Today I wanted to talk about saving vs splurging when it comes to your closet…
We get a lot of questions about saving vs splurging for a wardrobe, and we struggle with it from time to time as well, but you know we love to mix high & low pieces for most of our outfits. Sometimes there is just something we really love and want, but can’t justify the price tag. Example – I have been in love with this tee for so long, but I just can’t pull the trigger b/c it’s so expensive…and it’s a tee (but yes, I still want it lol). Since I’ve decided not to splurge on this, I’ve been hunting for some great ‘save’ options to replace it – when I spotted this sweatshirt at Nordstrom, I snagged it immediately. It looks really similar to the tee and is under $100 (I got a size small). Perfect! Some more graphic, designer-inspired tops I love: here, here (in my cart), here, and here.
These jeans are also a ‘save’ – under $100, so comfy, and I’m obsessed with the raw hem (be sure to read the size chart, you will most likely go down one size). Denim can be a save or a splurge, I really feel like it changes from pair to pair. My favorite ‘splurge’ pairs: one, two, and three. My favorite ‘save’ pairs: one, two, and three.
Three pieces I will splurge on with no regrets: shoes, bags, and outerwear. I wear these things over and over, and try to stick to pieces that can mix and match with almost any outfit, and last for years to come. I just picked up this trench (wearing size 2) and love it. It is a splurge, but a piece I will have in my closet forever. This one is a great budget-friendly option! I bought myself this bag for my birthday – #treatyoself ;), and I love that it’s a classic but in a fun color since most of my bags are very neutral. You either lover or hate the GG sneakers, and we love them ;). I wear this pair 4+ times a week, so for me the splurge makes sense, but here are a couple great budget-friendly options: one and two (exact same silhouette as the high tops – you can do the distressing yourself). If you want to pick one thing to splurge on, I would say make it a classic bag that will go with any outfit and you can wear forever!
