I don’t put too much stock into the old wives tales tests but I thought it be fun test a bunch of them! The baby will be here in about 2 weeks (just had a minor anxiety attack typing that!!) so I’ll have to come back to this post to see which ones we’re true for us!
Baking Soda Test
You take 2 tablespoons of baking soda and mix it with your urine. If it fizzes it’s a girl and if it stays flat, boy. Results: girl
Chinese Gender Chart

Baby Heart Rate
Under 140 bpm means you’re having a boy and above 140 means girl. My babies heart rate was between 170-158 the first couple months but has been a steady 145 since July. It’s right on the cusp but technically it’s girl.
Ring Test
You tie your ring around a string, lie down, and hang it over your belly. If the ring moves in a circular motion, it’s a girl. And if it moves back-and-fourth, it’s a boy. Results: girl
Salty vs. Sweet Cravings
Salty cravings mean boy and sweet means girl. For awhile all I ate was fruit (mainly peaches) and now I’m on a major dark chocolate kick (I’m officially banning myself from the Trader Joe’s candy isle). Results: girl
Sickness
They say if you have extreme nausea or sickness it’s a girl. I never got sick with Camden and this time I so sick till 16 weeks. Results: girl
Clumsy vs. Graceful
If your clumsy you’re having a boy and if you’re graceful it’s a girl. This makes me laugh because I remember being so clumsy when I was pregnant with Camden. I ran into everything and was always tripping. This time I’m much more graceful! *Girl
Pregnancy Glow
They say girls steal your beauty and boys make you glow. My skin has had it’s fair share of zits this pregnancy (there was a galaxy on my chin at one point) but for the most part I’d say glow. Results: boy
Carrying High vs. Low
Boys are said to be low and girls carry high. Results: girl
Hair
If your hair is thick and glossy it’s a boy and if it’s dull and limp it’s a girl. Results: boy
Most of the signs are pointing toward girl but my gut feeling says boy!
