As much as we love sunglasses, they’re definitely not a one-size-fits-all accessory, which makes it harder to recommend. However, we rarely leave the house without a pair since they’re perfect for hiding tired (or jetlagged) eyes – and protecting your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays. What makes a designer option worth the steep price tag is how well they hold up. We can wear the same pair several weeks in a row and they never stretch at all. While we don’t splurge on every pair, we will consider factors such as timelessness, cost per wear, and affordable alternatives, including pre-owned styles. Either way, we often look to eBay for discounted and authentic designer sunnies! Today, we’re sharing a few tips for buying designer sunglasses on eBay along with a roundup of some of our favorite sunglasses ;).
1. Pick a classic style
Sunglasses are one of the trickiest things to buy online. We recommend going for a classic style that’s universally flattering and timeless such as aviators. They’re one of the few styles that we think look great on every face shape. Rayban makes some of our favorite styles and it’s typically what we’re wearing (either this style or this one).
2. Use the filters to narrow down your options
It’s no secret that eBay carries a ton of merchandise and sifting through it all would be nearly impossible. Shop for sunglasses here and use the filters on the side to select the brand, shape, and price point that fits your needs.
3. Look for high-quality and detailed photos
Buying pre-owned sunglasses online can be daunting but there are a few things you can do to ease the process. One of our favorites is to look for high-quality, detailed photos. We’re always checking for the model number on the temple arm, unnecessary stickers, and the packaging.
4. Shop from a reputable seller
What’s great about eBay is that shoppers can review their buying experience. If a seller has thousands of sales and positive feedback, chances are you can shop worry-free. We also recommend going back to examine the types of products they’ve sold in the past.
5. Check the return policy
Some sellers offer returns, which is always a bonus for us. Otherwise, eBay also has a “money back guarantee” on almost everything listed on the site (learn more here). You’re basically protected against products that arrive damaged or doesn’t match the listing. If you didn’t get what you ordered, simply get in touch with the eBay team and they’ll take it from there.
